COVID-19 has turned so many industries on their heads and one of those industries is the fitness industry, more specifically gyms. We used to build going to the gym to exercise into our routines and with the outbreak of COVID-19, gyms closed down and have been closed since. As an alternative fitness instructors have been hosting virtual workout classes, they basically resemble the different classes that the gyms used to offer. Most of them are hosted via Zoom and have as many as 80 to 100 people in the sessions. I recently joined one and have had a positive experience, I wanted to share the benefits with those that are still considering it or curious about it. Spring is literally around the corner, so we need to get those summer bodies ready 😉
The first benefit is that you can join the workout sessions from anywhere, we are no longer restricted to a gym in a specific location. If your trainer is based in Johannesburg and you are based in Durban, you can join their workout sessions now.
You don’t have to drive to the gym to work out, you can do it from the comfort of your home. You can either wake up and start your day off with your workout session in your home or finish off your day with the workout from your home. The added benefit is that your children can join in too and hopefully it can tire them out and they can go to bed early 😉
- Dress Code
You can wear whatever you want and can even go barefoot if that is your thing. You don’t have to be self-conscious about how you look in tights and there is no random stranger checking you out either.
The schedules cater for morning sessions and afternoon sessions with multiple time slots for both the morning and afternoon. I would sometimes miss gym classes in the afternoon because I left work late and now I can put it in my calendar and plan for it accordingly. We are already wearing lounge wear or gym clothes for most of the day at home so you might not even have to change clothes lol!
These classes range from R150 – R300 a month per person and your whole family can join you and exercise with you as well. It is just so affordable that you will run out of excuses as to why you shouldn’t sign up.
