When I turned 30, I made a pact with myself to start taking better care of my skin because I want to have black skin that doesn’t crack. Since then I have changed two things, firstly I increased my water intake (story for another post) and secondly I changed my face care routine from cleanse, tone moisturise to cleanse, tone, serum and moisturise.
So for this post I will focus on my face care routine and the key things is that I have added a step, serum. Serums are a light moisturiser that mostly comes in the form of a lotion, oil or gel. You apply it on to your skin before you moisturize and it penetrates deeper into the skin to either brighten, protect or nurture your skin. It is not recommended that you replace the serum with the moisturizer because a serum moisturize minimally and therefore you need to use them in conjunction with a moisturizer. Serums are expensive but you have to consider the benefits of adding them into your daily routine to justify the price tag to yourself as they help give your skin a fresher, younger and healthier appearance.
I currently use different serums in the morning and in the evening. In the evening I use the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, I dab a few drops onto my face and then apply moisturizer as well. It is magic in a bottle especially in winter, leaves my skin soft and supple. You can buy Kiehl’s from within selected Edgar’s stores or their standalone stores which are usually next to an Edgar’s store. The products are also available online.
