family friendly restaurants

With the holidays coming up and everyone headed to the coast, I wanted to share a few family friendly restaurants in Durban. I lived in Durban for the last 3 and a half years and it is a very family friendly city and that is one of the things that I really miss about it. Below are a few of my favourite family friendly restaurants:

Pallet Jacks – Hillcrest

This place reminded me of Spur but a way bigger and more fun Spur. It is the perfect place for play dates as well as parties. It caters for children between the ages of 2 – 15 years. They have a separate play area for the 2 – 5 year olds and a separate play area for the older children and they have supervisors in each of the play areas that watch the children whilst they are playing. They also have a little merry go round for the little ones which is supervised by one of their staff members. Their menu is very child and adult friendly. They have change rooms and a breast feeding area. All the play areas and majority of the restaurant is indoors so even if the weather isn’t great, you can still have a good time.

Address: Oxford Village, 9 Old Main Road, Hillcrest

Trading Times: Mon – Sun 7:30 – 21:30

Sage – Umhlali, Salt Rock

Sage is a café with a beautiful little play area for the little ones. They also have small décor shops and a toy shop on the premises. The eating area is right next to the play area so you can keep a close eye on your children whilst they are playing. They also have a trampoline and a birthday party area. Everything is outdoors so it’s not ideal for a rainy day but on sunny days it’s the perfect relaxed environment.

They have a supervised play area for kids, you pay R10 and your child can play for as long as they like.
